Handa Dashi Matsuri Festival

Getting Ready......

Taking pics in front of our apartments

On our way to the festival....

This is a special festival held every five years in which 31 floats participate. The
floats are drawn in each area of the city from morning, and then gather at a site called Handa
Dashi Matsuri Kaijo around noon. At that time a demonstration of mechanical dolls will be
given. On the night of the first day, the floats will be lit up by lanterns making for a spectacularsight

Arrived in Nagoya

I have just created my first blog!!! I am going to be living in Nagoya for the next 6 months, hopefully I will have something interesting to write on this blog. So far nothing special to mention other than I just got here in one piece and I am doing fine. The weather is much better than in London, but I guess that's not very hard given the summer we had, if you can call that summer.

The town where I stay is very quiet so I have not got a chance to explore the city. We have a Bank Holiday this monday, it is the Health-Sports Day, get in!! I will attend a festival over this weekend, the Nagoya Matsuri which happens every 5 years and I will attempt to visit the city.

The pictures and any interesting stories will follow after this weekend.
